The Greatness of God's Love and Power

Welcome to Close to Him Ministry’s Daily Spiritual Food. Today’s spiritual food is taken from;

John 5:20 -"For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel."

In today’s spiritual food, Jesus continues to speak to the Jews and reveals to them the intimate relationship between Himself and the Father. He stated that, God, out of His love for Him, Jesus reveals all His works to Him.

Jesus’ ministry flowed from the deep love the Father had for Him. This relationship was central to His mission on earth. The Father revealed His divine plan to the Son because of this love, and Jesus faithfully executed that plan. In addition, Jesus hinted at the greater works that were to come which were more than just the healing he had performed on the Sabbath in front of the Jews. These greater works included the raising of the dead, His own resurrection, and the ultimate victory over sin.

These greater works served to demonstrate the power of God and the truth of Christ’s divine nature. The greatest marvel, of course, is the resurrection, which is the cornerstone of our faith as Christians. As believers, we are witnesses to these greater works. Through the resurrection and the transformation of lives through the gospel, we continue to see the marvels of God’s power. Let us never lose our sense of awe and gratitude at the mighty works of God in our journey as Christians. As we reflect on this verse today, we should strive to live in a way that reflects the greatness of God’s love and power, sharing the message of the gospel so that others may marvel as well.
