John 5:19- "The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner."
Today’s spiritual food emphasizes the unity between the Father and the Son and how Jesus’ actions perfectly reflect the will of the Father. Jesus asserts that He does nothing on His own authority but only what He sees the Father doing. This demonstrates His perfect submission to the Father’s will. His miracles, teachings, and acts of compassion were all in alignment with the divine redemptive plan.
When we look to Jesus, we see the Father’s heart—compassionate, just, and loving. Through Christ, we come to understand the true nature of God and His desire for us.
As Christians, Jesus shows us the perfect model of obedience in this pericope. Just as He did the Father’s will, we are called to follow His example, living lives of submission to God’s commands. Our lives should reflect the actions of Christ, as He reflected the actions of the Father.
We should strive to align our lives with God’s will, seeking to act in a way that reflects His love and purpose for the world. As we meditate on these words today, may our actions, words, and lives reflect the love and obedience that Jesus showed throughout His earthly ministry.
