What needs to change in your life?

Change is something we all desire at some point in our lives. Deep within us, we recognize areas that need improvement- habits, attitudes, or behaviors that hold us back from becoming who God has called us to be. However, despite this awareness, we often procrastinate. We delay making those changes, even when we know they are hurting us, affecting others around us, and most importantly, distancing us from God.

The Bible gives us a powerful example in the parable of the prodigal son (Luke 15:11-32). This young man chose a life of independence and reckless living, turning away from his father and wasting everything he had. However, there came a moment when he realized the consequences of his actions. The Bible says, “When he came to himself,” he decided to return to his father. That decision marked the beginning of his change. He arose, went back home, and humbled himself. His life changed not just because he felt sorry, but because he took action.

Today, I want to ask all of us an important question. What needs to change in your life? Is it an ineffective prayer life? Is it inconsistency in studying the Word of God that keeps you from growing spiritually? Could it be neglecting church services or not taking it seriously? Or perhaps is there a particular sin that continues to weigh you down and separate you from God? Whatever it may be, it is important to identify it honestly and strive to change.

The good news is that God is always ready to receive us. Just like the father in the parable of the prodigal son who ran to welcome his son back home, God is full of love, mercy, and compassion. No matter how far we have gone, He is ready to forgive and restore us when we turn back to Him.

Today let’s take a moment to reflect on our lives. Identify the areas that need change and bring them before God in prayer. Let’s make the decision not just to recognize them, but to act. Let’s arise and return to God, and He will meet us with grace.

As for me, I am committing to work on what needs to change in my own life. I encourage you to do the same today.

Stay blessed,
